OptiGroup’s is dedicated to developing targets to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. By committing to setting targets in line with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), we ensure that our low-carbon transformation is aligned with climate science.
UN Sustainable Development Goals
Five UN Sustainable Development Goals have been identified as most relevant to the business, and OptiGroup will continue to create activities and measures that contribute to the achievement of these goals.
OptiGroup’s short term sustainability targets
In line with its business strategy, OptiGroup established sustainability goals for the Group to underline the business-critical aspect of the sustainability agenda and to inspire action that makes a lasting difference.
OptiGroup will reduce its carbon emissions from buildings and outbound distribution through energy efficiency and a transition to renewable and fossil-free energy sources. The goal is that the Group will be carbon neutral in Scope 1 and 2 by 2030 according to the GHG protocol.
OptiGroup will support the circular economy and responsible use of natural resources by promoting and increasing the sales of renewable, recycled, compostable and bio-degradable products. The goal is that 70 percent of product sales will comprise items manufactured using bio-based or recycled material.
OptiGroup will build relationships with suppliers who are leaders in sustainability and who promote responsibility and transparency in the supply chain. The goal is for 100 percent of new and existing suppliers to comply with the OptiGroup Code of Conduct.
Moonen Packaging in the Netherlands achieves B Corp™ certification
OptiGroup’s subsidiary, Moonen Packaging in the Netherlands, proudly carries the prestigious B Corporation title after a long and rigorous certification process. This achievement aligns perfectly with the company’s unwavering commitment to sustainability and its clear ambition to achieve CO2-neutral operations by the end of 2026.
BFG Packaging in Romania operating 3,800 solar panels
In 2024, BFG Packaging in Romania took a significant leap towards sustainability by launching 3,800 solar panels. This impressive initiative generates approximately 2.4 MWh of 100% renewable electricity each year, slashing BFG Packaging's annual carbon footprint by an astounding 1,200 tons.
